The Order Purge utility deletes
inactive or abandoned orders from the database. It is also capable of deleting
valid orders after a certain period of time in order to maintain system
performance.
The design of this utility is very conservative in order to
prevent valuable data to be removed from the database. For instance, valid
completed orders cannot be deleted if they are younger than a year. Both
abandoned orders and completed orders can be deleted simultaneously.
Exercise great caution before purging the database as valuable information could
be lost. It is highly recommended to back up the database before running the
purge.
Databases of //digital things direct customers are automatically backed up
every night (unless otherwise specified in Service Agreement). If you are
using another Service Provider, please contact them about their backup
schedule.
Some issues to consider when purging the database:
- Be careful not to run the Sales Analysis Report or Activity Report for a
date range spanning purged transactions.
The 'Abandonment Ratio' will not
accurately reflect reality and results might be deceptive. If in doubt, run
those reports before purging and print them for reference.
Note: The valid transaction information will remain accurate.
- If you purged old orders, they will naturally be deleted from the database and
any reports run for a date range anterior to the purge will find no data.
Auto-purge:
The system will automatically purge all data related to the purged
orders, in particular:
- Audit trail (if applicable).
- Errors and other system events that occurred in the selected timeframe.
