The Referrer screen is used to
create and manage referrer programs (associate accounts) for web sites referring traffic to your
e-commerce application.
This feature enables you to enter into profitable
internet partnerships and to drive traffic to your web site
Traditionally, referrer programs have been focused on site to site (domain to
domain) referrals. Our unique 'Domain Override' features extends the referring
concept beyond domain and enables merchants to accept referrals from any
document supporting hyperlinks such as e-mail, e-books and even MS-Word or Excel
documents.
This method uses a unique code that 'overrides' the 'domain recognition'
mechanism. The system can also be used to track internal referrals, for example
the success of an e-mail campaign can be easily determined by 'tagging' e-mails
with a referring code. Referrer reports will then be able to correlate any
tracking code with the number of orders it produced.
Our referring feature is safe and cannot be defeated from the outside (spoofing)
as all codes or domains are entered in the Admin Center under the control of the
store administrator.
| Field

| Referrer
Name |
Enter the
name of the referrer (associate) in this field. |
| Referring
URL or Code |
The referring
system uses two operating modes:
1. 'Natural Domain' Referring:
This mode uses the domain the shopping cart page is referred to by
some other site on the internet. This is the default mode. All shopping
cart pages can be referred from other sites except the check-out pages
(for security reasons).
To create a 'Natural Domain' referrer:
Enter the full
HTTP path for the referrer's web site. Example: www.myAssociateWebSite.com.
ezStore123 automatically identifies any referring page within the
specified domain.
For example: 'www.myAssociateWebSite.com/hotdeals.html' will
be recognized as belonging to the 'www.myAssociateWebSite.com'
referrering domain.
If you wish to enable the system to record referring information from web
pages not belonging to or being generated by ezStore123, you will
need to ask your VAR/ISP to include the 'esz123Init.asp' in all web pages receiving traffic directly from referrers.
In most
cases, only your home page needs to be set up this way.
Notes about referring URLs:
1. If you set up a referrer as 'www.myAssociateWebSite.com',
the system will also recognize referrals coming in as 'myAssociateWebSite.com'.
However, the reverse is not true and the system will not recognize a 'www.myAssociateWebSite.com'
referral if the account URL is set as 'myAssociateWebSite.com'.
Consequently, we recommend that referrer URLs be set to 'www.myAssociateWebSite.com'
by default.
2. Other types of domain referrals are supported, for example is is
possible to set up a referrer URL as 'subdomain.myAssociateWebSite.com'.
This allows referrers with complex site structures to be tracked and
remunerated at the sub-domain level. In this case, exact domain match will
be required and one account per sub-domain will need to be set up.
2. 'Domain Override' Referring (referral by code):
This unique features enables your web site pages to be referred from
documents not originating from a web site for example e-mails, e-books or
any document supporting 'hyperlinks' (such as document originating from
Word Processors, Presentation Software, etc...).
This feature gives you the opportunity to expand the commercial
capabilities of internet-only referrals.
It can be also used to track the efficiency of your various promotional
efforts through e-mailing or other referring method by setting up one (or
more) 'dummy' account(s). The 'Referrer' report will then be able to give
you feed-back about return on advertisement.
To create a 'Domain Override' referrer:
Enter a code by which the referrer will be identified (for example 'MyAssociate').
When setting up the links to your shopping cart pages from documents, make
sure that the hyperlink contains the referrer code, for example: http://www.mySite.com/ezStore123/DTCatalogList.asp?TXREFID=MyAssociate&otherParameter=...
This method will override the 'natural' domain and force the referrer to
be 'MyAssociate'. Note that the example provided above is for illustration
purposes only and may require more parameters to be specified for the page
(see integration manual for exact syntax). |
| Commission
Amount |
Enter the
amount of commission you will pay the referrer for each successful sale
completed by the system.
Tip: Exercise caution when defining a 'flat' commission amount.
Make sure that the commission amount is always inferior to the price of
your cheapest item and consistent with your business profitability. |
| Commission
Rate |
Enter the
commission percentage you will pay the referrer for each successful sale
completed by the system.
Tip: Exercise caution when assigning commission rate since this may
impact your profit margin. Consult your CPA or CFO to make sure the
discount rate makes good business sense. |
| Notify
on Order/E-Mail |
Click the
check-box if the referrer wants to be notified in real-time of each
referred sale on your web site. An e-mail will be sent indicating
the amount of sale as well as a warning that the commission will be
reversed if the order is subsequently canceled or returned. Provide the
referrer e-mail address in the text box next to the check-box.
The mechanism applies to all referrer types (domain and override). |
