The Power-Price utility allows
large-scale update of product prices.
Price updates can be performed for any number of products. Prices can be increased or decreased in absolute value or as
percentage. The system also provides for price override (Set Price), in order to set a new
price for one (or more) items.
CAVEAT: Products mapped
to multiple categories:
When selecting products by category or if your system is set to
'Force Listing by Category' (large product databases), you may be faced with the
following scenario:
- Product P belongs to category C1 and C2.
- You select category C1 and apply a 1% price increase on all products for
C1.
- You select category C2 and apply a 2% price increase on all products for
C2.
- Price for product P will first be increased by 1% when update for C1
occurs, then the new price will be raised by 2% when update for C2 occurs.
Resolution:
- Apply price changes by categories covering generic mapping (for
example Manufacturers), for which no cross-referencing exists.
- De-select the product(s) mapped to multiple categories before applying
subsequent price updates to categories cross-referencing the product(s).
Hold the 'Ctrl' key to select/de-select products on the
list.
This situation does not apply when no categories are selected and the
entire product list is displayed. In this case, price updates are
guaranteed to be applied only once per selected product.
Notes for B2B merchants:
The prices displayed are always the retail prices since the system uses
the retail price as base price. All prices levels are calculated as discounts from the retail price.
Consequently, modifying retail prices automatically updates all discount
policies in a manner consistent with their original definition. If
the projected modification should not modify the discount policies, you
must update those policies as needed in order to correct the pricing
methods employed by the system.

Select the
product category filter if needed.
If your system is set to 'force category selection', the first product
category is always selected by default.
This feature prevents time-consuming listings for merchants with a very
large product database.
The 'force category selection' feature can be enabled or disabled from the
Admin Center Wizard and is OFF by default. |

| Rounding |
Select
the rounding mode.
Default setting (Standard) is 2-decimal rounding and does not require
special attention.
Advanced Rounding:
You may select a typical rounding from the list or specify custom rounding
by specifying it in the 'Custom Round to 0.' field.
When the price change is applied, the system automatically rounds all
affected prices according to the specified settings.
Rounding rules:
Except when 'Standard' rounding is specified, the system rounds all
prices to the next currency unit then applies the special rounding as
follows:
- Rounding value is less than 0.50: Rounding value is added.
- Rounding value is greater or equal to 0.50: Rounding value is
subtracted.
Rounding works with all action types (Add, Subtract, Set Price). The
prices are always set to the nearest logical value (see
examples below).
Examples:
Item A's price is set to 100. Our request is: 'increase price by 0%' (no
increase):
Rounding to Standard will result in the price being set to 100.00.
Rounding to 0.25 will result in the price being set to 100.25.
Rounding to 0.49 will result in the price being set to 100.49.
Rounding to 0.50 will result in the price being set to 99.50.
Rounding to 0.99 will result in the price being set to 99.99.
Item B's price is set to 100. Our request is: 'increase price by 10%':
Rounding to Standard will result in the price being set to 110.00.
Rounding to 0.25 will result in the price being set to 110.25.
Rounding to 0.49 will result in the price being set to 110.49.
Rounding to 0.50 will result in the price being set to 109.50.
Rounding to 0.99 will result in the price being set to 109.99.
Item C's price is set to 100. Our request is: 'increase price by 3.3%':
Rounding to Standard will result in the price being set to 103.30.
Rounding to 0.00 will result in the price being rounded down to
103.00.
If the requested price increase had been 3.9%, the price would have been set to
103.90 and 104.00 respectively.
Important Note:
Since the rounding range is plus/minus 0.50, using special rounding
settings for prices that are less than 1.00 could result in price being
set to a negative value. Standard rounding is always guaranteed to work. |
