| Defining
time-sensitive information: The 'Just set it and forget it' method: The system features an advanced time-sensitive database structure. This enables merchants to define information to expire or to become applicable in the future. For example, you can define all of your promotions for the entire year in January, set them to apply and expire at given dates and the system will do the rest. This feature becomes crucial when sales tax rate change as government agencies generally apply such changes at midnight on January 1st at 00:00:00am. ezStore123/MerchantComplete uses time-sensitivity for just about any data item in the system (such as sales tax, shipping methods, products and categories, etc...). The system will automatically enable and disable various features based on the dates entered. How to use the apply/expire date mechanism: Setting an expiration date: Set the expiration date for the record to the desired date. If the expiration date is left blank, the record never expires. Setting an apply date: Set the apply date for the record to the desired date. You may specify a date in the future. The apply date is always required and normally defaults to the current date. Tips: - To expire an item and have another one take over immediately, set the expiration date of the item to expire and the apply date of the item to apply to the same date. - All dates are expressed as midnight. In other words, 1/1/2000 means Jan 1st 2000 at 00:00:00 (Happy Millenium!). <<Back to Help page |
