1. Shopping Cart:
1.1 Fixes:
1.1.1 EZS2001-10221300:
Customers using Netscape 6.1x cannot check out.
Since Netscape 6.1x does not properly report the referring domain information on HTTPS, the shopping cart cannot authenticate the
check-out pages and triggers the 'hack-protection' mechanism. An alternate security system has been enabled for Netscape
6.1x users.
1.1.2 EZS2001-10022300:
Transaction reposts when user presses browser 'Back' button after successful completion of order.
This did not affect order amounts and did not charge the CC twice but could have under certain
(rare) conditions erroneously credited the 'FrequentSurfer' account twice.
1.1.3 EZS2001-10061500:
Last 4 digits of credit cards 'scrambled' on order return confirmation e-mail.
A coding error caused the last 4 digits not to be decrypted. This
affected only merchants having enabled e-mail notification for returned
orders.
1.2 Enhancements:
1.2.1 Faster transaction processing:
Payment processing has been streamlined and requires less traffic
between server and browser. This
translates into savings in bandwidth and connection pooling. It also
makes transactions less likely to encounter connectivity errors. Testing
shows that direct transactions process 35-40% faster and gateway transactions
20-30% faster on average.
1.2.2 Additional security layer:
The system now uses a triple security layer. For security reasons, we
cannot release detailed information about how this feature is implemented. Previous versions are and remain
secure but in security matters, 'good enough' is not //digital things' motto.
Additionally the system now automatically logs user's IP address and other
information when suspicious behavior is observed.
1.2.3 Support for sales tax at ZIP code level:
A list or range of ZIP codes can be entered for states requiring application of sales tax in force at customer location instead of sales tax in force at merchant location.
1.2.4 Support for 'Free Shipping' at shipping method level:
This capability comes in addition to the system-wide 'Free Shipping'
feature.
Each shipping method has its own threshold and is triggered independently.
1.2.5 LinkShare Support & integration support:
The shopping cart now contains a 'hook' for LinkShare processing. The
variable 'CompletedOrderID_' is available to developer/integrators
and contains the order ID after an order has been successfully processed
(file: DTCheckOut2.asp). Note that this value does not grant access to the
transaction data unless the user has admin rights.
Other integration variables are available and will be supplied to
customers and authorized VARs upon request.
1.3 Browser Support:
The ezStore123 shopping cart system has been tested and found compatible with the new internet browsers listed below:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0.
- AOL 6.0.
- Netscape Navigator 6.1
- Opera 5.12.
- WebTV 2.6.
Current market share distribution by browser (various internet sources,
2001):
- Microsoft: > 80% (including 3.x, 4.x, 5.x, 6.x, AOL and MAC
versions).
- Netscape: < 15% (including 2.x, 3.x, 4.x, 6.x and Unix X11 versions).
- Opera: < 2%.
- WebTV: < 2%.
Compatibility and support for older browsers is unchanged.
Admin Center: We still recommend Microsoft Internet Explorer (4.x,
5.x, 6.x) for the Admin Center and do not officially support any other
browser.
This limitation does not apply to the shopping cart, for which the
widest possible support is provided.
2. Admin Center:
2.1 Fixes:
2.1.1 EZS2001-10031645:
Product options cannot be deleted from product definition.
This bug prevented users to remove options to a product from the Admin
Center 'Product Options' screen.
2.2 Enhancements:
2.2.1 Merchant screen
additional options:
This enables merchants to set the options listed below without VAR/ISP intervention:
- CVV2: Whether the shopping cart enables entry of CVV2 user authentication
code.
- Default transaction mode (Sale or Authorization) can be set according to merchant's needs.
- Merchant can enable/disable the UPS automatic quote system (requires UPS account).
- Merchant can specify a 'Handling' markup to be added to UPS automatic quotes if
required.
2.2.2 Sales tax methods:
Sales tax methods can be set to apply by ZIP code list or ZIP code ranges.
2.2.3 Shipping Method 'Free Shipping' threshold:
A 'Free Shipping' threshold can be set for each shipping method.
2.2.4 'Free Shipping' capability at the product level.
This feature allows 'shippable' items and 'non-shippable items' (example: Training Courses) to be mixed in
the same shopping cart order.
2.2.5 Referrer e-mail Notification:
Referrers can now be notified by e-mail when 'referrered' orders are placed.
The referrer will also be notified if referred orders are canceled or
returned.
2.2.6 Domain-friendly referring URL:
The referrer URL now applies to both WWW and 'straight' domain reference. The system will resolve both domains as the same referrer. Pre-existing referrer accounts will be preserved.
2.2.7 'Commission' Report:
The 'Commission' report has been renamed 'Referrer' report.
It has been enhanced to generate reports by individual referrer. Individual referrer reports display the
'referrered' order ID for easy account commission reconciliation by the referrer as well as commission details and totals.
2.2.8 Activity Report:
The 'Activity' report now displays the product total amount to ease cross-reference with the 'Sales Analysis' reports.
2.2.9 Admin Setup Wizard:
The Admin Center now features an automated setup screen allowing merchants or VAR/ISPs to modify critical system information such as server name, database name, login name, password, etc...
The new screen (adminWizard.asp) automatically generates the _DTSysdefs.asp configuration file and is displayed by default
when database access parameters are incorrect. This allows for easier
store setup.
2.2.10 Larger size for 'Product Description' & 'Product Options'
fields:
Maximum size of product description has been increased from 1024 to 2048
bytes.
Maximum size of product options has been increased from 1024 to 2048
bytes.
2.2.11 Gold Packages only:
- 'KEYWORDS' meta-tags can be defined for each product.
- 'DESCRIPTION' meta-tag is now automatically generated.
The meta-tags are included in the generated pages for better visibility by search engines.
- Product pages are now generated with a file name including the product name for easier identification.
- Generated product pages now include a 'Back' button.
- Page generation reports number of pages generated and HTTP location of the pages.
Important note: Product pages must be 're-gened' to take advantage of the new features. Old pages should be deleted prior to re-generation to avoid duplicated results on site searches.
- Shipping methods now support shipping calculations by weight range in
addition to previous capabilities.
2.2.12 [WRAP_TEXT] tag:
This tag applies to product description and specifies where text should
break in order to make the product description wrap around and under the
image on the product details page (DTProductZoom.asp).
- The tag MUST be entered in UPPERCASE (including the square brackets) to be recognized.
- Placing the [WRAP_TEXT] tag in the first 200 characters of the
description should be avoided or the product listings will display the tag
'as is'.
Example:
'This is the beginning of your product description ... [WRAP_TEXT]
This is the end of the description wrapped around and under the product
image.'
The '['WRAP_TEXT]'
text-wrapping tag is not supported on generated pages. The tag is removed
from the text when file generation occurs.
2.2.13 Miscellaneous Enhancements:
- The product ID is now displayed on the 'Product Listing'.
- The product ID is now displayed on the header of the 'Product Edit' screen.
- The category ID is now displayed on the header of the 'Product Category Edit' screen.
- Application error log new format logs error/customer cross-reference
information.
- All item lists now display the number of active and inactive items.
- Customer management screen now displays last activity date, IP address
and browser used.
